December in the city will forever be my favourite time of year. The Christmas lights are shining, the trees are up and the city is in full festive mode. And now there’s finally snow on the ground! It took some time but Toronto finally decided to open itself up to the new season. Although winter isn’t my favourite month, December has a particular charm to it.
And like every year, I have this habit of telling myself that I’m going to do so many things during my holiday break, only to never check anything off my list. So, this year I decided that I would make a point to take the time to check out some of the Christmas markets and events going on in Toronto.
If you live in Toronto, then December isn’t complete if you haven’t been to the Christmas Market in Distillery District. They have great foods stands and little shops for you to pick up some unique gifts for friends and family. At night, the Christmas tree looks amazing when it’s lit up and it makes the perfect place to take some pictures. Before heading out we took a stop at the café, Cacao 70, and enjoyed a cup of hot chocolate and some fondue to go with it!
While you’re at it, I suggest taking a trip down to Nathan Phillips square. The ice rink officially opened at the end of November and its looking particularly festive down there. Even though I can’t skate for the life of me, (I just waddle on the spot) I always love going there and just people watching.
For my outfit, I wore my thickest sweater dress and a parka to layer on top. I paired it with black tights and my trusty Matt and Nat booties that go with every outfit.
